Car drives through Riverton Wal-Mart

(RIVERTON, Wyo.)
On Saturday January 21, 2012 at
approximately 4:17 a.m., the Riverton Police Department responded on a call of
a vehicle that had driven through the front of the Walmart Stor. Callers told
the police department that the car had driven through the front of the store, a
teenaged male exited the car and was walking around the store, refusing to talk
to people and was possibly looking for a way out of the store. Officers arrived
in the area and saw the suspect trying to flee the area on foot, and that was when
he was taken into custody.

Upon further
investigation it was learned that the suspect had stolen the Gray 2009
Chevrolet Cobalt from College Hills apartment’s just moments before.  The owner of the vehicle had started the car
to let it warm up and left the vehicle unattended while he returned to his
apartment, when he came out he found the vehicle missing. The suspect then drove
to Wal-Mart, made an abrupt turn at the south entrance doors and drove through
the store. The vehicle came to rest near the electronics section, over 280’
from the entrance. The suspect’s blood alcohol content was found to be over
twice the legal limit.

Medical personnel responded and there were no
injuries reported as a result of this accident.  Officers estimate the damage to be up to
$100,000.00. The suspect, identified only as a 17 year old male, was being held
at the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office Jail as of Tuesday (Jan 24) on 2
Felonies and 4 Misdemeanor charges.
