CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – A grass fire destroyed four homes in a small community outside Casper while several wildfires started over the weekend in Wyoming.
No one was injured in the fire near the town of Mills in Natrona County on Sunday afternoon. But a number of people were forced to flee their homes before firefighters could put the fire out.
Elsewhere, a new wildfire discovered Sunday has burned about 800 acres in the Medicine Bow National Forest about 32 miles south of Glenrock. It’s cause is undetermined.
Two helicopters are aiding an initial attack by firefighters. More firefighters are on the way.
Other fires were reported 25 miles southeast of Rock Springs and near the town of Hartville in Platte County.
A large area of southern Wyoming is under a red flag warning.
